w123 300TD roof load strips????

I have a 1984 300TD. In between the two roof racks are 5 metal strips. These strips have plastic inserted in them. Over the years the plastic strips have shrunk to approx an inch from each end. Does anyone know the part number for the inserts, the metal strips themselves, or how the metal strips are attached. If I cant get replacement inserts, I might just take them off and repaint the roof.

I believe the metal strips are glued in place. I would be surprised if the black inserts are available separately or available at all. I would recommend that you look for good used metal strips with good black inserts.

If you increase the paint thickness under the strips, you will never get them back on properly. Bon chance!
