W124 wagon side windows

Hi All,
I have decided to replace the seals on my 124 wagon rear side windows.
I have the new window seals from the main agent and they also suggested I purchase another small section of rubber, part number W1246730698 to go with the main rubber seals - the two pieces were only a couple of $ however, I can't find any reference to them other than they are in the parts list as a valid part...!
I assume they have been added to the seal job to help keep water out but where would they fit into the surround?

Any assistance would be greatfully received!

Paul

You will likely find rust in the sills below the window. Be prepared to fix that. You will need to fill the entire lower sill with urethane and then splooge the window and gasket back in to keep water out in the future.
