What paint does MB use?

I keep seeing these 91-95 300's and 320's with original paint in very good condition (as in paint still shines ), I imagine some are kept indoors, but can't possibly be all of them. What paint system did MB use, base/clear? What's so special about it?

Or what are owners doing to keep them looking that way? Can't just be wax...... I am really impressed.

The paint was and still is a base coat / clear coat.

I believe reading on this site that MB was using oil-based paints back then that created a better and more durable finish.

I think they went to more environmentally friendly paint in 95 or 96.
