560sl Paint Code Question - Quick!!
I'm trying to determine the exact paint code for my '88 560sl. I want to know what the "exact" name is so I can describe it. Right now it's listed on ebay (check it out... it's a great deal)
Item number is #1876049377. Anyway, here are the codes from the hood compartment. 7715941 6 107048 12 71 70 278 111568 M 199 2 199 I believe the number is 199. Am I right? What's the exact name? Thanks...

Quick answer!!
According to www.paintscratch.com it's Black Pearl Metallic Clearcoat (DB-199).
On the radiator plate the paint code will be a 3-digit number that shows up twice (unless the car's a two-tone, in which case there will be two different paint codes). Quick enough?

I happen to have a Color & Upholstery Guide/Brochure from 1988. Paint code 199 is indeed Black Pearl, which is a metallic finish. Upholstry code 278 is Grey Leather. Those are the "official" names from Mercedes.
