Rust - Hammerite

Folks,

I'm noticing some surface rust starting just above and behind my rear bumper cover. I have some as well on the inner front lip of the trunk lid.

Any recommendations on how to attack this? Now that I figured out how to remove the bumper cover (with the usual forum help), it should be easy to get to.

I read ALL the posts on different products to use. Since my vehicle is white, I decided to find something that would go on white (preferred) or clear that I can easily paint over if necessary. The only product I found that comes in white is "Hammerite Rust Cap" in the US or "Hammerite" in Europe.

Anyone have any opinions on this product?

Well,

I found some Hammerite Rust Cap today at a local Damman Hardware. I bought a white spray can. They also sell it in quarts.

When I get some time, I'll spray the affected areas and let you know.

I have used quite a bit of Smooth finish Hammerite, In So Cal Call Oak Distributors in Fontana and ask who they sell to in your local then call up the paint shop and place an order. Note this is only for smooth finish, Hammered finish can be purchased at Home depot. If you are going to spray mix in 30% xylene to thin. Steve

I used it in spray can form to paint the engine bay and valve covers on my 454 Blazer. It goes on nicely and is hard and tough I like it's subtle looks in an engine bay...........
