Anyone have a Half Moon Bay shop recommendation for body? My car may not make it too far from home.

I'm hoping to find someone that really knows their metal work and can help me hold off the rust that seems to be nibbling the car since we moved here.

Actually, if you have a lead on a W115 parts car, that would also be hip.

Anyone know or use Sal's Euro Motors(Mercedes-Benz and VW indy) on 10th st.West in Lancaster, Ca. I live in Acton and will use Enrique at Mr MB Motors in Tarzana, but would like very much to have a backup a bit closer to home just in case. Thanks

Anyone Try

San Leandro MB inc?
2233 Washington Ave
San Leandro, CA 94577

(510) 614-7254

I've met some people that have said good things about them. Might be a bit pricey, but I've heard they really know the older benze. Wanted to check with the wise at the forum.
Thanks

Pleasanton-area shops?

My company has just moved to Pleasanton, right near Stoneridge Mall. I'm wondering if there are any noteworthy independents close at hand. I've heard or seen recommendations for two Dublin shops, Kahler's and John's European -- both recommended in this thread, but both so long ago that any number of things may have changed -- and one in Livermore, International Auto Service, run by a fellow named Detlev. Does anyone have any recent experience to report with any of these, or any other shops to recommend in this area? I'm also curious what hourly rate these shops charge.

Thanks!

Best,
Alan

I've Talked to Detlev a few times. He seems to know a lot about diesels, though when I asked him about my trany shifting hard, he said I needed to get a new trany not to check the vacuum system. So I haven't taken it into him.

Anyway, I'm looking for a mechanic up here. I had a minor problem a few weeks ago when my car was leaking oil. I randomly called shops and was shocked at what they wanted just to Look!...got the problem fixed, which wasn't a problem...anyway, if you think Tony Heyer is great with Mercedes 300D's let me know.
Thanks again,

There's a reputable shop in Campbell but I'll have to look up the name.

If you don't mind the distance, Mercedes Select Service in Milpitas is the shop in the south bay.

Mechanic in the SF Bay Area near Palo Alto/South Bay?

I'm looking for a mechanic that knows W123's and is reasonably priced that is near the Palo Alto/South Bay Area. Specifically the W123 1981 300D that my brother owns is having some issues that he thought were transmission related, but after talking to Wolfgang at MZF the problem may be with the fuel injection system.

The only place I have seen recently posted (this is a long and old thread) is Mercedes Select Service in Milpitas.

Thanks in advance.

recommend ANG mercedes in sun valley. these guys mainly deal with older mb's like 70's and 80's diesels (w123, w126, etc), and are very fairly priced. they replaced all my rubber motor mounts/shocks/bushings, as well as tranny mount, flex discs and rear subframe bushings for $250 labor (I provided all the parts)! great deal

+1 for ANG mercedes in sun valley. sun valley's where many cars from LA go to die. he's got tons of dead cars to pick from. brought my 90 560 in with a (gasp) short. somewhere. one day later, traced to antennae. $250. also replaced the gold trunk deck and emblem with chrome for $35. very fair, very upfront, very fast. would recommend.

Sacramento Area

Bremen Motor Works AG
6326 Main Ave
Orangevale, CA
916-989-4973

This business has been around for a while, under its original name of Ernie's Independent MBz Repair. Name recently changed to Bremen Motor Works. Same location, same Ernie. Gave Ernie a try after recently moving to the area and needing a capable, conscientious mechanic to work on an older Mercedes. I'm looking for someone who will sweat the details servicing the car as much as I do keeping it looking new, even after 25 years. So far so good. I heard about Ernie from several other MBCA members who all had favorable things to say about him. I'm very pleased with the work he did. So, even though I have to drive an hour each way, I'll be going back.

x2

So far as i am concerned there is *NO* better shop than Ernie's (Now called Bremen Motorwerks AG) anywhere in Northern California..

He's taken great care of all my older Mercedes Benzes both current and former, and is very careful and thorough and knowedgeable and extremely reasonable in his work, and will explain the reasons and the intricacies behind his work.

Great, there is absolutely no one better than Ernie.

Heheheh, Ernie is a good guy. Never steered us wrong, and has helped me out of a pickle more than once! Even some of the local DIY guys swear by Ernie!

My family started getting our cars serviced here in 1998, after having a falling out with a shop in Roseville. Never looked back. Hes services every MB we have had, from a humble 83 300D to my 2003 E55.

BTW - next time you go over there, ask him about "Crash" Wrockloff... He still busts my chops over something that happened many moons ago!
