It will be worth your time to drive to Costa Mesa, and see Maurice at Maurice's Mercedes Benz Service, Inc.

He started in 1972 as a trained factory tech, and opened his own business in 1978. The shop is clean and modest, yet up to date. And the best thing is, this man is more than fair and honest.

Without Maurice, I would not own a MB auto.

Good Bodyshop in LA/West End?

Any one know of a good body shop in the Los Angeles area? Both my 400e and Q45 need some touch up work. Did a search but I didn't find anything.

Man, I'd ask Ashman, one of the Moderators.

He lives in the Westside, I think in Beverly Hills, very close to UCLA.

He's been in several wrecks recently and has some good contacts that know how to work on Mercedes.

Import Motors and Independent Mercedes

To add to this discussion, this summer I developed a nasty brake squeal on my 1987 560SL purchased last December. Import Motors put some "special grease" on the pads. Problem gone--for about a week. Then it returned. Bill at Independent Mercedes in Walnut Creek recognized that the rear pads were not factory spec; changed them, problem solved. I'm sold.

Possible Trim Shop?

I had a business lunch nearby and accidently discovered Frank's Interiors on Pico and Bundy. There was lots of old classic MB's in the garage bays (which I took to be a good sign). Anyone ever use them?

Try Lasky CoachWorks on Federal Just south of Olympic, or you can try Lanse Haselrig Auto Restoration. He is Behind Sports Club LA on Pontius Ave.

Both are good shops. Lanse is Old World Body Restorations, he does things the old fasioned way, lots of hard work and attention to detail.

Lasky is a very good shop and does excellent work on many high end cars. He is also a concours car restorer, and many of his cars have been seen at the various charity auto shows in Beverly Hills and elsewhere.

I haven't heard of them, but I'd only take the car to a mechanic that has no relationship with the seller so that there is no bias against you.
