Orson's PO must have have sticky hands or something. The leatehr on the steering wheel is sort of stained and I'd like to replace it. I had wood and leather in my Seville and I like the feeling of it.

A Europen Nav System? What's that? Does it give you directions for Paris, London and Sevilla?
I bought the steering wheel from www.************************

It was about $600, but is available for less directly from Germany at:
www.eris-car.de
www.matrixcar.de

I didn't order from Germany because my interior color, Java, wasn't offered in Europe.

I had MB Stars in Walnut do the swap. it took them about 30-40 minutes to do both the steering wheel and the shift knob, and they charged me $40.00.

The European version of the Command looks a little different than the U.S. version. One difference is the TV tuner button. I guess if I had an antena, and a receiver, I could get TV in the car. There are other reasons, which I don't remember, that make the Euro version better.

The Euro version gets a different voice than the American version to guide you to your destination: a female voice with an English accent. The American version is a man's voice. You can also select German, Spanish, and I think, French.

teaser pic of the plaque.

It's ready to go.

Sorry for the bad pic. I had to adjust it to make it fit as an attachment, but you get the idea.

It's not too late for 2 more people to join in on it. I have space for it.

I need to know by thursday afternoon, so my guy can do the plates.

excellent.

See you all there. We should exchange phone numbers so that we can call each other if need be.

PM Me, and I'll send my phone number over.

Sorry for being AWOL from the forum this week.

We moved into our new home on Tuesday, and today is the first free moment I've had to turn on the computer. I still don't have a high speed internet connection, and dial-up is painfully slow.

Alon, the plaque looks great!

I will be there tomorrow morning at 7:45 sharp.

I won't have time to look at e-mail again this evening or tomorrow morning, so I will post my cell phone here now:

For those who are coming, please call me on my cell phone en-route so that we can chat in the car:

909-855-2772.

The plaque presentation took place this morning. Paul forgot the donuts, I forgot the coffee, so I guess we are all "even."

Present were Alon, Paul, Dave and yours truly, plus Enrique--of course.

It was nice to meet people face to face. I may even forgive Paul his crack about my age

Here are some pics of the event.

On the group picture, from left to right. Myself, Paul, Dave, Enrique and Alon.

Alon, thanks for making this possible. The plaque is very nice and I think that Enrique was truly moved by it.

BTW, you guys should've seen the look on Enrique's face when he arrived at his shop and saw all four of us waiting for him. I know what he must've thought...

"Gee, here I was counting on a nice, quiet Saturday morning and these fours guys show up...Ay Dios mio!"

Well, Alon did get a new radiator cap for his nice, Black W124 coupe and Paul also got a nice radiator cap for his very clean Artic White E430. It must have been the morning for radiator caps....

One more pic....I had to reduce the file size for it to fit as a thumbnail attachment....

If anyone knows and can tell me how to send bigger file sizes using my slow dial-up connection (no DSL in my 'hood yet) let me know and I'lld o it.

Then I can clean up the photos, lighten them up, etc.

his face this morning was classic. he was like oh my, what is all this?

He was very surprised by the plaque, especially getting a phone call from Kevin in houston at 8:10..

It was greta finally meeting you ernesto and dave it was great of you to come all the way there.

I wished I could have stayed longer, I just barely got to work by 9:00 luckily my boss brought breakfast so I got to eat.

Isn;t it amazing how the moment I told enrique about my top hose crushing he goes its the cap and voila car was fixed and diagnosis was right on the nose.

I will chat with you guys in a bit regarding your donations to the plaque if you so feel you want to.

I only wish we had gotten more people to join in on it that would have been great.

Alon

Exactly... (about your radiator cap). he is not only good at dignosis, he is also good at making the repairs.

Nice car...and you too Paul, both have very nice cars. My E320 felt "plain!"

And Dave, thanks for making it from so far away. I would have loved to see your V-Dub!
