MBZ Valencia, CA??

Have many people here tried them?

I have and just want to confirm what I suspect.

I tried them once and only because it was an emergency. I had just obtained my new (to me) W124 and it sprung a pretty nasty fuel leak that caused the car to keep stalling. They fixed it half-a$$. The car didn't stall anymore but it still had the leak.

A letter from one of my co-workers to MBZValencia

I've changed the names and numbers to protect the "innocent".

"Good Morning Bob,

I'm sending this e-mail to inform you of a problem with service
performed.

I had B-service done on my 2004 C240 a few months ago --
WXXXX##X##X###### (please check your records). Lately, I noticed that
the car's fuel economy was very poor. The MPG indicator was getting
lower and lower.

I decided to check the air filters and the attached photo shows the
results!! The photo does not show how much dirt came out of the filters when I removed them from the housings -- maybe
I should have taken a video instead.

The car is only used on weekends, so there can't be much mileage since
the B-service. The air filters look like they have not been changed
since the car was purchased in 2005, or perhaps since the car was sold
new in 2004. My fault for not checking the filters sooner, but I should
not have to!!!

Is check/replacement of air filters not part of the B-service? Hey,
clients should not have to re-check the work of dealer mechanics. Is
this what's considered Mercedes free maintenance?

The only thing that's on my mind right now is "WHAT ELSE WAS NOT
PERFORMED DURING THE B-SERVICE"?"

normally during a b service they should at least clean the air filters. they do not get replaced. replacement is recommended by the fatcory at 5 years or 60k whichever comes first

Okay, MB Dealership in Valenciastrikes again!

Okay folks,

I try not to bag on places too much, but this really got my goat tonight.

I was going to replace the voltage regulator on the alternator on my 1999 W210 Turbodiesel.

I was able to loosen the 13mm nut, though it was rather tight.
I was unable to loosen the 10mm nut, the shaft upon which it threads was turning.
The terminal eye lug broke while trying to loosen the 10mm nut.
I found that the plastic covering, that holds the (now turning) shaft had broken from the ham-fisted over-tightening that I has been installed with. This nut only requires 4 Nm or torque, I had to use a second wrench to hold the shaft and about 15-18 Nm to brake it loose. It's a wonder the shaft didn't brake.

I will test the alternator to see if it charges within spec tomorrow, and then I will need to replace the terminal end and re-mount alternator and replace all of the stuff I had to remove to get it out.

1 hour job turns into multi-day due to the crap I have to put up with both a previous mechanic's incompetence and poor design.

Angry Mercedes Benz of Valencia..nein danke !!!

About 2 years ago i brought my 1991 560SEC into their service department fr a simple LOF.

The bill was an outrage, $125.00 for this!

After making a huge stink about it, they reduced it by about $15.00

I will never never never go back there.

Ever.

They still are sending me emails with "service' specials, though.
