Diesel Engine and European Machines

I'm now using an outfit called "Diesel Engine and European Machines".
It's at 9645 N 19th Ave. SE corner of 19th Avenue and Mountain View. Reason I tried it is because it's a lot closer to my home than any other shop in the valley.

Owner's name is "Ziggy". He's foreign and a little hard to understand but so far he's done good work for me at a reasonable price. I think he' charges 75 an hour labor. H'es in his 50's I think and has been working on these things in Europe since they were new so I think he has decent experience.

It's a small crowded shop that shares half the building with another US vehicle shop. It's just Ziggy and one other guy and a couple of times I've been unable to get in when I'd like because he couldn't accommodate me.

One thing I did not like at first was his insistence on not using owner supplied parts. He claimed he'd done that when starting out and had had bad repercussions from certain people.

I took my 240D to him for electrical issues and while it was there had him do some other stuff too.

They repaired a lot of alternator related stuff, mounting bracket, tensioning screw and evenutally replaced the alternator itself with a 75A unit which finally cured my charging problems. They also repaired the leak in my power steering resevoir, replaced my engine and tranny mounts and shift linkage bushings. And new belts.

So far no problems and I'll continue using him until I have a reason not to.

- Peter.
