Pleasanton-area shops?

I posted this a short while ago as a reply, but it was buried:

My company has just moved to Pleasanton, right near Stoneridge Mall. I'm wondering if there are any noteworthy independents close at hand. I've heard or seen recommendations for two Dublin shops, Kahler's and John's European -- both recommended in this thread, but both so long ago that any number of things may have changed -- and one in Livermore, International Auto Service, run by a fellow named Detlev. Does anyone have any recent experience to report with any of these, or any other shops to recommend in this area? I'm also curious what hourly rate these shops charge.

Thanks!

Best,
Alan

John's European in Dublin is still a solid place to bring an older MB. Kahler's down the street has changed ownership but retains the Kahler's name. The same techs are still there and they continue to maintain a very high standard.

Thanks; I appreciate the input. Are you saying then that it's a toss-up? Which one would you go to? And if there are other folks out there with experience or opinion with these shops, please chime in.

I have used Detlev to work on my Vanagon camper. He is a very knowledgeable German mechanic. I have seen many MB at his garage. Highly recommended.
