hiding fastrak device on a W123

i find gluing fastrak devices on the windshield ridiculous, so i got the plain black exterior version which is meant to sit atop a license plate. that looks bad too, but it is more durable and subtle. i am thinking about trying to hide it behind the front grille. has anyone done other creative things to make these work properly while out of view? my first thought was to put it under the dash, but i think there is too much metal in there. maybe under one of the hood grilles?

Have you registered your car with FasTrak? I've registered my motorcycle license plate on the Bay Area FasTrak site, which means that I don't have to carry the device at all.

On their site, hover over the "Hi, ___" in the upper righthand corner.

Click: Overview > Vehicles & Tags > Add a Vehicle

The toll cameras will capture your plate, and charge you just as if you had the device. I'm not sure if there's a delay with regard to the balance update, or of any other downsides; it's nice not to carry it at all!
