Any good diesel mechanics in Los Angeles?
I posted earlier with regards to buying a turbo diesel for around $7000.00. I could probably go to $8000.00 if it would make a difference.
In any event I'm wondering if any of you dieseholics know of any good diesel mechanics in or around the Los Angeles region? Thanks, Peter

I hope that I'll find something great that I can afford so that I can join the club. Heard anything about the 50-50 diesel-ethanol mixture being proposed? Peter4

I've had good service from Manuel Cruz at Silver Motors in Van Nuys, who fixed other mechanic's severe mistakes.
Be careful: There are a lot of bozos out there.

I recommend Exclusive Auto on Bellaire st. near Sherman Way and the 170. I don't have the number handy but it is listed. Tom, the owner, is a real nice guy, very fair, and he loves all old Mercedes...and new ones too.

He is Reseda name is Bob shop name is JB motorsport tel 819 996 4104. he likes to work on diesels and tranmissions says gas engines are too easy, straight talking honest guy, turned me down for work once, said just replace the spark plug wires and you problem is solved, come to me with a real problem.

Good used Mercedes in Los Angeles?
Related to my search for a good mechanic is my search for a good 1987 300 SDL Turbo Diesel. I looked at one today, 170,000 miles, good external appearance, interior worn and dingy... obviously not well maintained, suspension didn't seem tight... even a bit rattley. air-conditioner never worked since the owner bought the car from her brother, Turbo seemed a bit sluggish. All of this was for $7000.
So, any suggestions were I can find a really mint condition 1987 SDL in or around Los Angeles? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Peter4
