Enrique is great. I have had a number of things done there and never had an issue. As far as the ride is concerned, I have always made appointments in the morning and just waited. Hopefully he won't ever need my car overnight!

Just recently bought a clean 1991 300E with 134k miles and took it to my local MBZ repair shop on the recommendation of friends. At the end of the inspection, the owner of the shop was telling me why I needed to spend $1500 ASAP for a valve job. Being a little skeptical, I came to this forum and decided to get a second opinion after reading the rave reviews of Enrique at Mr. MB Motors.

Well, I've found my mechanic! Took the car on a Saturday morning to visit Enrique and had a decent breakfast across the street at Mort's Deli while Enrique checked out the car. When I came back, he took me underneath the car and pointed out the areas that needed attention. He secured a couple of loose items (heat shield and fan housing) - he was never pushy and never tried to alarm me into a pricey job. He was informative and prioritized the items for me.

As far as that valve job, Enrique basically said that the other mechanic was bull*****ting me. He would never recommend a job of that magnitude without first living with the car for a while and monitoring oil consumption. Then, he would explore other solutions like valve seals before an entire valve job. I appreciated his honesty and what seemed to be a real desire to help the customer find the right solution, not the most expensive one. And the best part....no charge, even though he spent a good hour going through the car!

Ditto on the Enrique endorsements. The guy's great. A gem.

My 300D detonated on the 405 when the oil cooler dropped onto the pavement. Was looking at a $6K rebuild, with a new crank costing $2.5K.

Enrique found me a low-miles engine with a blown head, w/an unmarred crank and spare injection pump for $2K. What a thrill to drop by and see the rebuild come together.

Enrique said he doesn't make much $$$ on heavy-duty work, but it's his favorite. I believe him.

If you want him to wax whimsical, ask Enrique about driving a fintail 230S across the South African desert, pedal to the floor, for hundreds of miles.

Aaaaaah, so that was your W124 chassis diesel that I saw there a couple of weeks ago?

It was in the bay all the way on the left.

The engine was on an engine stand being rebuilt. Enrique told me what had happened.

He said engine rebuilds are his favorite thing to do. He told me he has rebuilt thousand and thousands of Mercedes engines, and he never gets tired of it.

Mr Mb in Tarzana. CA update

Just a quick note to all in the San Fernando Valley area--

My MIL has reported back to us that she has been very pleased with Enrique at Mr MB.

She has a '74 280 with the M110 engine and that dreadful Solex 4 barrel.

For the first time in 3 years, it's running right. He cut her a deal on a new carb that another customer had just taken off his recently-totalled car, and installed it on hers.

Enrique has even called her at home from time to time to see how the car is doing--

A class act! Much better than some of the other hacks out there in that area, specifically Hank's on Ventura Blvd.

818-708-8086

Strictly working on benzes for 30+ years, knows them inside and out, honest, well priced. Can't go wrong.

Search the site for enrique and you will find many praises of his work and pricing.

Indie Mr. MB in Tarzana, CA comes thru!

Check out my thread in the Tech section under "M104 intake manifold" for the details.

I was faced with a hard to get at leaking coolant hose that in some cases requires the removal of the intake manifold.

Enrique at Mr. MB, 5557 Reseda Blvd, Tarzana, CA , 818-708-8086 was able to do it from above. I already had the parts, a $10 hose and some hose clamps. The bill was $195.

We are lucky to have him!!

Bodyshop, CA.

Anyone know of a good body shop in the San Fernando Valley? Or does anyone have info on how to adjust the rear bumper on my 500E. If not involved I can do it myslef. The right rear end needs to come in a bit. Enrique at Mr. MB said it's unusual as the bumpers usually are pushed in (from being hit at the back).

He says my car runs great (I had it in for service and minor leaks), however, I have the dreaded engine harness issue.

Tony,

Enrique does not do smog checks, but he has a source whose business card he will give you. It isn't too far away and they did a pretty good job. The place he will send you to does not perform any repairs, so you need not worry about shady operators who make a small adjustment so that you fail, then charge you for the "repairs" so your car will pass. They are a test-only station.

Best Mechanics in Los Angeles

I took my 1988 300E to MR. MB Motors for front seal oil leak. He did a great job and I am very happy with him. His price is reasonable, and he does a great/clean work. Besides, Enrique knows his stuff very well. I watched him working, and oh man, I was astonished...

I think Enrique (MR. MB Motors, Tarzana )is the best. He knows Benz in and out. I watched him working. Wow, he knows what he is doing... and he has all the tools and equipements to work in Benz. He is the only mechanics I would trust in the whole universe...PERIOD. Besides he is very nice guy.

MR. MB Motors... thumbs up.

Oh, Thanks Alon for the info.

I live in west LA- If I can find a shop closer than Tarzana, that would help.

It's worth the drive, espcially when it comes to something as expensive as AC. The main thing with Enrique is he is TRUSTWORTHY! Along with the fact that he's been a MBZ mechanic for over 40 years! I met a guy that brings his old SL up from Laguna Beach - he told me that Enrique is worth the trip being that the local mechanics (for this guy) could not sort out his car's problems, even after multiple visits. For him it was worth the trip up to Tarzana to have it dealt with correctly the first time. I trek over from West Hollywood and Alon (who refered me) comes over from Beverly Hills. It's really no too bad to get to Tarzana.

Heck, I drive all the way from Diamond Bar, which is 52 miles one way.

There are customers driving to Enrique from Big Bear, Bakersfield, even as far as Montana.

Hey Dave, it was good meeting you in Mission Viejo the other week.

Actually, I forgot to inlcude you in Utah.

There is a guy that lives in Montana who has his W140 S600 flat-bedded down to Enrique for work. He hs been so burned by the MB dealer in Boise that he refuses to go there anymore.
