Thumbs up Rebuilding a 400e 92...220km...at what cost??

hi everyone,

Cant afford to buy a new Merc..so I was thinking of rebuilding my ol' 92 400e.

At present it is still a daily driver but at 220km it is starting to give me problems.

The motor is coughing alot in the morning now especially as it becomes cooler out. The A/C doesnt work never did so no biggies there. The transmission is also not always shifting at proper rpm range when first started up and cold. Stays in first for a long time wont shift to 2nd gear until moving a ways down the road.

Now these issues not withstanding when it is warmed up it is fine, but there have been some shaky early morning starts lol. Also I believe the exhaust is cracked because she's starting to sound like an ol Tiger tank...some mornings.

Anyways I was wondering what i might be looking at for repair work.

Can any of the moderators and true merc mechanics give me an estimate of what may be involved and what to expect in the way of costs...

I can probably go up to 10 grand for repairs or rebuilds..So what does everybody think...hell I might even repaint her if I believe I can get another
100k out of her.

thanks

PS...I take it easy on the vehicle right now because of the above issues. I do frequent oil changes and have had the tranny inspected and filters replaced.
