These will fit...

I just bought http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2569441&cat=3947&type=19&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3947%3A96481%3A38981&xsell =2569439 ]these[/URL] for my 79 300CD:

These are the same size as the ones that I replaced. On mine, the 4" would be too small. Any pics of your coupe? I'm working on getting some up of mine. I've only had it for one week...

Can you still use the original covers on top of your new speakers?

I had a hard drive crash, all my 300CD pictures are gone, will make some new ones soon and post them.

I am going to try and install that exact pair of speakers in my 300CD tonight. The speaker is the same size as the OE speakers if the mounting points weren't outside. I was planning on cutting them off and drilling holes in the rim for the stock cover. I'll post my results when I am done.

Ok.. due to not being able to locate the new wiring I bought I didn't install the speakers. I also was wrong, they aren't the 4" pioneers but the 5 1/4" ones. And they'll fit and be covered by the stock cover if you cut the mounting tabs off. You'll then have to drill some holes for the screws thought.

The 4" speakers will be too small for the back, however, they will work quite nicely in the front.
