CM2396 CD Function Question
I have a 97 C280 (202) with Alpine CM2396 and Bose System. No OEM CD Changer was installed. Wanting a CD Changer, I plugged in an Alpine CHM630 with Peripheral MBZIL in the trunk. CD Button doesn't do anything. Tried and OEM Changer (from Friend) for this car, and it also did not work. The Changer is getting power from Molex connecter. I have not checked CD cable wires yet for signal and code, etc..At the least, I know the power wires are ok.
My question is: If No changer is connected to this radio, and you hit the CD button, will the Radio display a connection error or other message. If this is the case, then this radio's CD function is dead. I will be checking the cable connections/wiring to eliminate the cable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, -D |

I see it quite often and there is a problem in your headunit (usually a sign of the capacitors leaking acid on the board taking out the cd changer control functions.... If you want to get it fixed we can do that for you. Check in with Cleeve at www.mercedesradiorepair.net
