1432 Receiver/Amp install?
My 1990 300SE's 1480 Cassette is not working and my car stereo tech has told me the cassette machanism would need to be replaced for about $180, which at least would let me play CDs from a portable player via a cassette adapter.
So I have bid on a 1432 HU on eBay, thinking I can get a similar radio but with CD changer capability. Big mistake, as I have learned this morning that the 1432 has a separate amp/tuner. Is it difficult/impossible to install 1432 amp/tuners? I think it would be. All I really want is to be able to use a CD changer, and I don't think the 1480 can do that (no MODE button), else I would just get another 1432. Any recommendations? I like the look of the Becker in the console so I am not keen on getting an aftermarket setup, but I don't want to permanently have to use a portable CD player with a CD-Cassette adapter either. Thanks, Pete |

You should look into a RF modulated CD changer. It plugs into the back of your origional radio through the antenna input and there is only a small controller that you have to mount and you can still keep your origional radio.
