Radio Doesn't Accept Correct Security Code
1998 C230.. renewed the battery in the trunk and then attempted to recode the radio with the proper security code... radio doesn't recognize code as valid. Radio was functional before the battery renewal; radio has not been changed and existing code has been successfully used before on this radio. Have attempted recoding over the past two days without success; am using the proper procedure as detailed in the owner's manual.
Any suggestions? |
Does the radio . . .
. . display "wait" after you enter the correct code?? If so, in addition to indicating it didn't like the code that was entered, it also means it's 'dead'. How and why that happened, I can't tell you but have seen a number of radios that react the same way.
In addition, for my radio, you must press the "SC" button after you enter the codes in order to 'enter' the code into the radio. If not, it just sits there. |
It does display "WAIT" and the "SC" button was used to enter the code... but still no success.
This is an Alpine unit. Any recommendations as to who should service it? |
I guess it depends . .

When three incorrect attempts are made at entering the code, the radio will go into "wait" mode. In order to return to "code" mode, the unit must be left turned on for one hour.
What is the model number and serial number on this radio? Are you sure its Alpine? Visit my radio decoding page: Radio Decode Service |
