I have replaced the OEM Becker radio in my 1986 560SL with a new Pioneer radio with CD. As you know, the Becker had an alarm wire that supposedly protectd the Becker against theft.I was advised that I could permanently disconnect this wire and tape that wire off & leave it in place, but I seem to get sporadic false alarms now. The car alarm will sound off for no reason. Do I need to do something with the radio alarm wire, or do I have other undiscovered problems with the car alarm?
Also, the Becker has disabled itself after it was removed because I could find no tech data on the "proper" way to safely remove the radio. Can the Becker be reset, or is it permanently disabled?
Last, I replaced the two dash speakers with higher performance speakers. I could find no tech advice on removing and replacing the speaker grilles. The spring clips on the back of the grills fell out as I was removing them. I can't figure out how to reset the clips and properly reinstall the grills. Any suggestions besides return to my very expensive repair shop?
Thanks for any advice you might have!
