Antenna Bent
Anyone out there want to diagnose this? Girlfriend back car into tree branch, slightly bent the antenna (electric, switched in car). I straightened as much as possible, but it only wants to go partly up when I turn on the radio, and remains about 8" out when radio turned off (never all the way up or down). I dont want to burn out the motor.
New mast? New unit? Can a rig it some way? Thanks. |

Oh, and how do you get those masts out anyway? I searched and could not find.

New mast.
13mm wrench, unscrew the locknut at the base of the antenna. turn on the radio and help the mast by slowly pulling it with the speed of the motor as it extends. With the new mast, feed the line into the hole, turn off the radio and rotate the line untill the motor catches the teeth and pulls the antenna down. tighten down the nut and you're done.

Cool. Thanks. Now I got to figure out which of those masts in Fastlane is the right one. Three choices; differing prices. Any way to tell without having to get behind my trunk liner (which is damn secure right now surprisingly)?

Just tried it. I got the metal mast out ... but it was still attached to the white plastic toothed cord. Where does that detach from? From inside the unit (inside the trunk) or does it detach from the mast itself? And how? Sorry for the confusion ...
