Does anyone know of an Aftermarket Antena.

I am a new owner of an SL500, and I would like to replace the power antena with a shorter fixed aftermarket antena. I have heard rumors of thier existance. but no one seems to have any. Please advise.

There is a low cost alternative, actually a no cost alternative - disable the power to the antenna, and just leave it with only the first section pulled out - maybe 8 to 10 inches long. I did this on mine when the motor stopped working - and the reception is fine, no noticeable loss of signal. I looked for a short antenna for a while and gave up. Fry's Electronics had the most choices, but nothing I really liked. Anything after-market is going to have a tough time hooking up to the angled fitting on the car.

You might want to check ebay. I purchased an aftermarket antenna for my 1987 560SEL. It is perfect for me. It was around $40.00 or you might want to try UNEEDAPART.COM and you might even make out cheaper.

You can buy aftermarket antennas from www.installer.com, but you might need to splice some wires to connect it.
