All you audiophiles out there, I NEED HELP.

I recently bought this MB and one of my front dash speakers in on its way out. The system is an aftermarket system with a head unit outpuuting to an electronic crossover, which is then connected to a Nakamichi amp in the trunk. 2 channels of the amp are bridged to power 2 8" Nakamichi's and the remainder 2 channels power all the speakers in the car.

I took apart the dash, and I think this is what I have got. I think I have a 4" woofer, connected to a high pass crossover, which is then connected to a separate tweeter. The woofer is blown. Can I just replace the woofer with a full range MB quart (4 ohm impedence) and let the tweeter do its thing. Do I need a bass blocker. Is the impedence ok?

Hmmm well if it has a cross over already then it should be doing that in the first place. You probably wouldn't have a problem just replacing the woofer itself and not the tweeter. I've done it before.

My recommendation would be if the nakamichi amp is a 4 channel, you should have it power the speakers in the car, and get another amp to power the 8's. This of course would be your best method, but if you have a 2 channel running all that well definately you should look into putting on another amp to distribute the load.

Yes, what you propose is perfectly fine.

i dont know enough about what you have. the front speakers only include the 4" and the tweeter?? is the tweeter in the dash also, or in the door?? where are the 8" woofers X-over @? if you are going to spend big on the MB quarts, get the two speaker component set, toss the old tweeters out, and run the front from the 2 channels. are there 4 low level inputs to the amp from the x-over?? are there 4 inputs from the HU to the x-over?? i am asking because if there is four inputs from the HU, you have the ability to fade the 8"ers (control the bass VOLUME), which is very useful. your amp is plenty to drive what you have. i am beginning to think that @ one time there was two amps. i dont know your amp, but it more than likely has an internal x-over, so why would you need an external one unless you had more than one amp. more if you want..
