Sound deadening material
Hey Guys,
Just got some of the sound deadening material from McMaster-Carr (supposedly like the Dynamat stuff) to quiet the rattles in front doors from speakers (1990 300E). I have read the guidance here about using this material on the doors. My question is: Do I stick this material on the back of the door panel or do I stick it onto the metal door (over the plastic sheet?)? Any advice would be most appreciated. |

It depends on how much of the material you have..Usually it is applied to the door metal itself to reduce the resonance of that metal..If you have enough do both...I am not sure you should apply it on the plastic either..It is usually applied directly to the metal..Hope this helps...

When I did this to my diesel truck...I applied it fully to the insdie of the outer door skin..........and to the metal of the inner door structure..........made a HUGE difference..........you can actually hear the stereo now and not be screaming to be heard over the noise.

Sound deadening material
Thx Guys.
(I got a huge amount of sound deadening material from McMaster-Carr - this being my first foray into the world of things audio, I appear to have "overbought" - so I may well try to do both metal and panel). I appreciate the guidance. |

If it were me, I would cover as much metal as you can with it. the more the better.
