Replaced Antenna Coax On A W123..........

just bought my car a month or so ago, the previous owner attempted to go cheap when the original Hirschmann antenna went bad and tried to splice into the Hirschmann coax with an aftermarket POS from Autozone. It didn't work...........

I bought another Hirschmann off ebay and installed it today.

I just wanted to tell everyone that there is no way in hell that you are going to tape the new coax to the old and snake it through from the antenna to the stereo, as someone had suggested in a previous thread.

Wiring harnesses are all bundled together and tightly strapped together every few inches, there is no way to bring the new coax through without cutting at least 10 plastic ties.

Basically, the coax goes from the trunk, behind the seat back to to under the rear seat on the driver's side, under the seat support and under the carpet and padding and through a wiring channel under the driver's seat on the left side, then in front of the driver's seat front mounting crossmember (under the carpet and padding ) and then up inside the console to the back of the unit.

As this was not a Hirschmann 6600 replacement, there are wiring issues as well, and I will be asking some questions about that shortly.

For now, I am just ever so happy not to have my battery operated radio sitting on top of the dash so I can hear traffic reports during my 80 mile (each way) commute to work.
