Cd Changer Needed For '98 210!

I had no luck in the audio section so I'll post my query here.

My '98 E300 TD does not have a CD changer, seems to be able to accept one,{CD button on the radio receiver} but I need to know which one is compatible with it,also is it a simple hookup or more complicated?

There is a cable in the trunk which will connect the head unit to a NON FIBER OPTIC CD changer. You can buy an MB or aftermarket one which will plug directly into the cable and works without any further mods. The MB unit is made by Alpine I think. There are many to choose from on eBay, just make sure you get the non-fiber optic model to fit MB E Class. The 1999 and later ones use the F.O. model.

The cable is located behind the panel on the driver's side (you may have to remove the panel to find it).

No problem, as you can see from my signature I have the same model and installed a CD player in it earlier this year. Bought an MB brand used for $1 on ebay which was non-functional and spent the better part of the day repairing it. It's been running flawlessly for about 3 months now.

Good luck.

Alpine CD changer 630/634.

You can use:
1.) Alpine 630 I think this is a direct plug in to the cable in the trunck ($220)

2.) Alpine 634, this is MP3 capable plus you will need some interface adapter ($300)

3.) IMHO, Forget CD.... that is 10 year old technology. Go ipod or any of the digital music player on the market. Expect to spend $200 to $400 but the $ value is much higher, Consider CD: 6x16 songs vs ipod: 1000-5000 songs on ipod. no contest.

I'll sell you mine out of my 97 C230 for $200 plus shipping. Works flawlessly, but my Nakamichi CD400 does not have changer controls, so it's pretty useless.

Yeah, I know CD's are sort of old hat but I am a serious 78 collector and burn my own discs after I filter out the surface noise and peak distortion on my shellac records.

If I am not mistaken those are for the optional built-in cell phone and its associated antenna. I don't think they have anything to do with the stereo system, but I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. The one without a cover shown in your photo is the CD changer cable.
