I posted a similar message at the car audio forum, but the web traffic there is only a fraction of what it is here. I have a 1994 E420 with the Bose system. I just spoke with a Mercedes service advisor, who states that this particular Bose system has the automatic volume control, wherein the system is supposed to get louder as you increase speed, and quieter as you slow down. It sounds as if my sensor is somewhat out of whack, in that the volume changes irrespective of vehicle speed. He mentioned that it is possible to disconnect the automatic volume control so that the volume is constant regardless of vehicle speed. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Does it simply connect to the back of the radio itself? Thanks a lot.

Feature in radio

Guess that the Service Advisor hasn't been around MB very long. This has been a feature MB has installed since 1990 On most radios. You can disconnect by removing radio & cutting black/grey wire at pin # 1 on the power supply connector. The other connector is for speakers & will have a red/white wire at # 1. Make sure to isolate wire ends w/tape!!
