radio not working after battery disconnect

My father in-law put in a new battery in his "new" '92 190E 2.6 The radio display says "code". Now, the car did not come with it's orignal owner's manual, he got one from local dealer. Is there a default code that someone could tell me, does he have to take the car to MB, or is he basicly hosed? Any info would be appreciated.

radio code

Have him take the V.I.N. number and registration to the local dealer...They'll
be able to access the 4 digit code for him.

The charge would be many times less than a new radio

I have actually been able to call with my VIN and get the radio code.....probably because they knew me, but I called on a car that they did not know I bought and gave me the code anyway....

Should be NO charge if decent dealer.
