Unlocking 98 C280 Radio
I have a factory head unit in my 98 C280...unfortunately the LCD screen is messed up and I cant read it. I recently unhooked my battery and need to recode the radio...I have tried the instructions from the manual to no avail. Any ideas? Also, any ideas what a replacement unit would cost? Thanks a lot guys.

Call your dealer, give him your VIN & he will give you the code.

If I am not mistaken, MB switched in mid 98 from wire to fiber optic cable, and I don't know if the early 98 head unit is compatible with the early one. If you want to replace yours, there is an MB head unit for sale in the 'parts for sale' forum that should work with your car, or I have the early 98 MB head unit (Tape/FM/AM/Weather) from my 98 C230 I just replaced with a CD unit that is available (if I don't decide to use it in my 87300E).
