1992 300E stereo wiring diagram
I just started to take the car interior apart and am a little confused about the wiring for the stereo system. I want to install a sub in the trunk and want to wire it in.
Does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for this model? Thank you so much guys. |

I'm assuming you just want to wire a sub into the stock stereo.. (?) I have no idea how to wire a sub in unless you have some kind of rca outputs. I'm sure there's a way to take the speaker wires and convert them to a low-powered signal (w/ rca cables), and then run the signals back to an amp with an integrated crossover (to cut out the high frequencies). I have only wired a sub into a head unit that has a specified subwoofer channel, though.
Sorry I couldn't help! Good luck. |

Thank you for your help. I was looking for the wires that come from the speakers in the front doors as they have the low frequency sounds. However, I did not see which cables they were at the headunit, so I took some pictures for reference and when I get a better idea what each one is, I will attempt the installation again.

The headunit has two pairs of outputs... LEFT and RIGHT They run to a fader switch in the console, where they split to front and rear l/r. If there is an amp, they run to behind the rear seatback, where there will be two small amps one on each side of the seat. The amplified speaker outputs leave there down the wiring channels. It splits again, and one pair goes into the door, and one goes up to the dash. The wire you are looking for isnt at the head unit. Secondly you want to tap it between the amp and the head unit, past the fader, and use the rear outputs. Then you need a loc (line output converter), to convert the speaker level signal to RCA's (line level). You also need to run a remote turn on lead from the head to the trunk. Then once you have your RCA and remote turn on leads in the trunk, you need a proper crossover for the subwoofer. Hope this makes sense. George
