Talking FIxing Broken Power Antenna - the solution

Hi
after learning alot here, I glad to post something helpfull to other!
the power antenna on my 190D (which I image is alot like the power antenna on other Benz's) stopped working, after popping the cover open it became clear that all that was wrong was the rubber belt (ribbed) that transfers the power was aged and broken.
Many hours of searching the web and making calls finally produced the right belt
and for $5 you too can put in a new belt - easy as pie and have a "rebuilt" antenna motor unit. mine has worked long enough where I'm confident the solution is fine (picked up a few spares as well :-)

order the belt from:
michigan industrial Belts
www.michiganindustrialbelts.com

Livonia MI

belt ID - 60MXL025 timing belt

regards Gordon

Gordon, did you get that # off the old belt? That's a # for a .080" pitch belt, I think. Does the 190D have a Hirschmann antenna also? Thanks.

hi
no that number was not on the belt - my belt was crumbling
and made by Continental (who would not sell direct)
I measured it carefully and counted the teeth etc
and we matched it to another belt - which has worked fine
for over a month - opened it up last night to make sure everything
was ok inside there and it sure looks ok
