Aftermarket deck in 1990 350SDL??

I just picked up a 1990 350 SDL, with the stock becker setup. I ordered an Eclipse CD5444 deck to replace it. I was wondering what the best method for wiring it would be: Should I bypass the amps entirely and use the deck power? or Should I wire to the amps and utilize them for power? I want the nicest cleanest sound. Also if anyone knows the wiring colors etc for the best way to wire it, It would be appriciated!

Thanks,
Zack

Deck power and cleanest sound don't go in the same paragraph.

HU's have pretty high distortion at full power. I'd consider even a small 30-40x4 rms @ 12v amplifier... problem with that is your best bet is to run that off aftermarket speakers. You could have a small amp for $60 used, install kit for around $45, and some used speakers for $40 at the most.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but it's what I'd do as bypassing all the factory amps isn't fun.

I dont want to replace everything (speakers, amps, etc). and If need be I can run new wire to each speaker not too difficult. The deck should be descent its a nice new Eclipse with great specs... Is the car a 4 speaker setup or 6+? The car isnt here yet to look it over I just want to get setup for this weekend when I put the new deck in. Im not looking for a "system" just to replace my deck the best way possible..

Thanks,
Zack

I have two Pioneer Premier HUs and one Alpine, all of them distort around 5%... a small amplifier is around 0.07% or less. That's a vast difference in sound quality. Not to mention the sound range is pretty limited on HUs, my Pio's are only around 50-15000Hz. Lame considering when you can hear from around 20-20000.

I suppose if you're not looking for much aside from a CD player then a new HU will do fine, but I can't stand distortion at higher levels when I drive down the freeway with my windows open.
