1992 300E Antenna - No reception

I have a stock Becker radio in my 1992 300E with the stock CD changer in the trunk. My radio reception began cutting out intermittently a week ago and now is entirely gone. The CD player works fine and the sound is normal. I checked the antenna lead at the telescoping antenna. It looks fine. I removed the antenna assembly, took it apart, rebuilt it and reinstalled it. Still no reception.

How should I troubleshoot going from here?
Thanks for any anticipated help.

the am/fm portion of the radio is in your trunk not your HU so dont even look in your dash. Is your reception out on both AM and FM??

Both AM and FM reception are out

Reception is on again, off again. But on right now and both AM and FM reception are working as we speak. But I expect it to cut again as it has over the last week.
Please advise.

1992 300E Antenna Problem FIXED!

Thanks to Trickie who wrote that the problem is probably back in the trunk, NOT in the dash.
Remedy:
I found what I presume is the tuner unit tucked in behind the two amps on the right side of the trunk. I located and removed the antenna connection banana jack, WD40'ed it and reinserted it. Then, I noticed a small wire connection right next to it that was NOT attached properly. I removed it, and reinserted it properly-it "clicked" into place...I now have reception on AM and FM.
I called the previous owner of the car and he told me that he had banged a box into the right side of the trunk, found a dangling wire and "thought it had been reconnected properly".
It wasn't. Now it is.
This forum just saved me some bucks. I truly appreciate your help.
