Can anyone help? I've just purchased an alpine #CHM-S601 6 cd changer on ebay for my 98 slk230 . The guy said that it came out of a mercedes and that it should work in my slk. Well everything fits but my radio dosen't recognize the cd changer. Can something be reprogramed ?When i push the cd button nothing hapens.The changer ejects seems to work.

First check if the fiber optic cable is plugged in the radio itself. I just installed a cd changer in my C230K and that was the cause of it saying "no cd changer".

If its plugged in then it needs to be programmed at the dealer.

Will need you to be more specific. What does the radio exhibit in terms of error
messages, codes, etc? Which model# is your changer?

Hmmm, I am not familiar with that changer #. Have you verified that your
car is compatible with that changer # or were you just going by the word
of the seller?

You'll need to verify changer model # with someone who has one, or is
familiar with the units installed in same year/model as yours. You can
also try the other MB Board and post in their SLK230 forum.

You can contact La Jolla and see if they can look this one up.
They seem to have much experience with MB radios.

did you try contact la jolla yet? (getting feeling you either got wrong changer,
or it requires an adaptor)
