Hot Trunk

I need a power block for the trunk. Is there anything back there now?

I am installing air ride on all four corners. Not the hoppty kind, just for ride control and comfort. Well pending I can find parts to do it.

i have a Wave box and 1000 watt JL w-7, 4 MB-Quart Q-line 6.5 inch mid bass speakers. 6 MB- Quart tweeters.

I need to power:

Air pump
JL-
1000 watt mono amp
1000 watt stereo amp
EQ

Is there a power supply in the trunk already, that can handle this? Or should I just pull up the carpets and run a nice 2 guage wire to the back? I want to keep the battery(s) in the front though, the trunk is shrinking fast.

Any suggestions and tech knowledge is helpful.

There is definitely not enough power there now...A 2 guage should do fine with a distribution block for your different needs....The best way to run the wire is to pull the seat on one side and the back seat and run the wire in one of the channels under the rugs...

Next question, will the alternator handle that, with a proper capasitor? Or is there a necessary and proper upgrade?

I had a killer system in my BMW 525. It only had an 80 or 85 amp alternator, I never saw the voltage drop. It has half the mileage though. MY Benz has 280k...

you can get an alternator from a later model s420 that has a 143 amp unit the standard 300e one is either 70 or 80 I believe. do a search on member gsxr I believe he has done it.

Well, I have finally solved the power-to-the-trunk issue. I had a '86 325e power supply in the garage. Should be long enough to go from the battery to the trunk, and it is like 2 gauge wire. Was used in the BMW because the battery was in the trunk. I may take this opportunity to put the battery in the trunk of the Benz.

I am going to install it in a few minutes.

definately

Run a capacitor. its a must, especially if you want to have your amps at full power, however the jl's may have a regulated power supply, but atleast you can still always give it 14.4 volts with a cap... i think they say to have 1 farad for each 1000 watts you push. you may want to double check on the cap to wattage recommendation on the net
