Audio 10 Upgrade question

I currently have a Becker 1692 head unit in my 96 C280 that is showing some discoloration on the screen and I am looking into a replacment. I have found an "Audio 10" unit which is from a newer model but is supposed to be able to drop in my 96 without problems. My question is, my current unit did not have an OEM cd changer so I added an alpine CD changer and a conversion kit to get the alpine changer to work with the mercedes head unit, does anyone know if this changer setup would still work if a newer Audio 10 head unit was installed? If you have other suggestions besides an Audio 10, let me know.

Thanks,
Brad

I'm thinking the Audio 10 uses fiber optic to communicate with the changer.
Whereas the CD changer you purchased for your original head unit is non-fiber.
If so, the Audio 10 and your older DIN connector changer are not compatible.
