New to the forum - amazed at the knowledge and willingness to share it!

I bought a 96 C230 Kompressor Sport (2 prev owners) and have been trying to figure out what goes where.

There is no stereo! Didn't think to try it at the time and when poking around found the one inplace was disconnected, old and had chewed up tape inside. Never mind.

I'm left with a hole and two bundles of wires plus an aerial lead.

Can anyone tell me which wire does what? All sorts of colours and frankly I haven't a clue.

Looks like there's slots for four speakers on the parcel shelf - anyone know what size they take? Anyone suggest what I can use to fill them? Anyone know if I can use four in the back plus the 2 up front? Anyone know of a tape/cd changer combo that can be used with 6 speakers?

Apologies if the questions are dumb - couldn't find anything in the forum and wasn't keen to experiment.

Cheers mates (from cold grey London)!

JC

Jean-Chr,

A 1996 C230 can handle about anything you want...

I have a C class that contains 16 speakers and some other audio related stuff...I have a page about this on my web site in case you are wondering what can be bought and what can be done...(click the red house below).

Give me the color codes of your wires, and I will tell you where to connect to...(1996 was a year with changed color codes for some of the wiring).

4 in the back-->MAGNAT is the best
2 in the front--> 2 in the dash and 2 in the front doors
2 in the rear doors (but since you come from the same cheap europe as I do, I figure that you do not have the speaker gratings in the back.

post a thread with the color codes; greetingz,

Thanks mate - I'll have a go at the spaghetti later and I owe you a beer if you're ever in London.

Btw, what leads to the tweeters on the dash?

Regards,

Jean-Chr,

The front speaker wires run to both sides of the dash where they will split up towards the door and the dash's tweeters. There is a connector in the car's cable tray that runs along the car's bottom.
I will keep that beer in mind...I have been in London once and I might get there a second time...
