fixing POs mistakes

I started in on the audio system of my TD a few weeks ago. I have added to the alpine deck that was installed at a stereo shop in OK(looks like someone paid a crack head to install it.) The wood is broken and they hacked into the main system without using a harness(don't know if they're available) and had the antenna wire from the car attached to the remote power from the stereo At any rate, I added an alpine amp and MTX pro 10" sub in a sealed box. I did notice a few things that had me preturbed. The system is run through the little fade knob on the console and the speakers kick off if the volume is too high in which I have to turn the stereo off and on again to reset this. Now to my question. Is it recommended that I run new wires to the speakers and bypass the OE system or is there a simple fix... ..simple fix is always my favorite but I would rather it be done correctly. Thank you in advance and in case I didn't put enough smilies in here you go

bypass the original system.. dont bother with the fader as most new headunits have one built in.. i have an aftermarket headunit and my power antena doesnt go up and down.. but maybe because the face plate was lost by the p/o might be why or it isnt getting power

Thumbs up

Ah yes, don't ya love PO mistakes. I spent about 2-3 hours just getting back a stock harness in my Benzo's (soldering). There is a power harness from Crutchfield as I recall.

the amp signal wire to the ant. is correct. it only sends power to the ant. when the sterio is on. as for the stock harness, just run new wires all throughout and leave the originals in place. that way if you ever wanna go back and use the stock system its all there. i wouldnt bother with an install kit because you would then be using the factory fader
