As you noticed it is a complicated system, even with diagrams adapting is almost imossible. The origional system consisted of the control in the dash, the tuner mounted in the trunk at the base of the drivers side rear wheel. They were connected by a large "din cable". If the optional CD was installed this cable went thru it before going to the tuner. The two outputs from the tuner went to the "Bose" amp at the top of the wheel arch (common failure and expensive) located way back. The Bose fed eleven speakers, two in each front door in enclosures, one in each rear door in enclosure, two on each side (2ohm) tied together on the rear deck, and one behind the rear view mirror (tweter). The side to side was handled by the forward control to the tuner and the front to rear was handled by a rotary switch controlling the "Bose amp". The two out board speakers on the dash (if you got them) were fed from the CTEL and have no relationship other than celullar audio. The wiring is intigrated into the looms, along with the CTEL cables.
Most people have started from scratch and interfaced in the door 'kick" panels to the speakers. The antenna had to be routed to the front since it went to the tuner, Last edited by Peter Guenther; 12-26-2005 at 09:09 AM. |
