Lack of Bass

I am getting a real lack of bass, it's all going into the trunk! (Sounds good outside the car when I open the trunk lid! )

I was thinking, If I made a wood mount for the speakers and then sealed it to the deck metal, would that help things as maybe air is leaking around the speakers and killing my bass response?

Thumbs up

I tossed in a late '86+ rear fill into my 300SD recently. I have the larger speakers and a third (well fifth now!) brake light too.

No worries, I didn't plan to hack up the car! I was thinking of making a wood sealing surface that would mate the flat surface of speaker rim to the curving surface of the rear deck.....I was told by a guy at a local Car Audio place that he never baffles his speakers, except for dash ones, because he doesn't see that they make a difference....?

Oh, I dont have a sony headunit, I'd barf first. I hate sony......Blaupunkt all the way man! Eventually I'll put blaupunkt 6.5's in the back, 4x6's in the front, get a Blaupunkt MP3 capable headunit, leave my Blaupunkt CD changer, and get some of the old, sleek, BQA 160 4x40 watt Blaupunkt Amps. MAYBE some tangband subs for the front doors, maybe.......

watch the ohms ratings on the tangband subs... Cleaverly under the z catagory http://www.tb-speaker.com/

You dont need a system all of one brand, infact, you'll get a better/cheaper system without going that route.

Go with the best in each catagory, heck with the brand

Ya, I know that, but, I want to have all "German" audio products, and I like the fit and finish of Blaupunkt. Plus, it just really looks swell in the car!

But, as far as speakers go, since nobody sees them anyhow under those grills, they can be diversefied....

Anybody know if Infinity Plate speakers will fit in the 4x6 front dash hole? They go for sale reasonably priced on ebay quite often. My mom's Jeep has the Infinity Gold audio system and it really rocks..............

Ya, I know that part......What I was wondering is, the hole for the speakers is an oval hole, but on plate speakers you have a 4 inch round speaker at one end and then a tweeter at the other, versus a centered arrangement.. This I would think would require an eggshaped cutout in the dash for the speaker cones to clear........right?
