2001 ML320 navigation installation

Hi, i bought a nav unit off ebay and installed it into my 2001 ml320. I followed the installation instructions that came with the unit, parked my car outside with the nav on for 1 hour and the gps still does not work. on the gps information screen, i'm able to see my current location in terms of longitude and latitude, but it shows 0 satellites. right now, the nav turns on and the the cds can be read, but no maps are shown on the screen. when a destination is entered, the screen will say vehicle position cannot be found, please drive around for a while. I took the car to a shop with a sds and they're having trouble getting too much information off the control module. when they tried to access the MCS navigation control module, a popup screen says that the control module version is unknown and that limited diagnostics will be available. The module did have a code in it though, it left a code saying the gps antenna has an open circuit. how do i go about testing the antenna? i also called roadside from the car and the operator was able to tell me my exact location. So if they can tell my location, and there's realtime longitude and latitude coordinates, why does it tell my my vehical location is unknown when i enter a destination to go? i'm at a lost, any advice on what to do next would be great, thanks.

A splitter needs to be installed under the passenger seat at the Tele-Aid
unit. Tele-Aid and Navi share the rooftop antenna, so they have to be connected at the same time.
Here are the parts.
1 GPS splitter A 210 820 24 89
1 GPS coaxial pigtail A 163 540 05 13
1 GPS coaxial pigtail A 163 540 06 13
Regards,
Dr.D

Think the dealer is expensive? Do you know how much it costs to train a dealer tech? Or buy the required MB special tools to have on hand?
