bought new antenna w/ motor, but it has 2 wires, plus ground. original antenna has a plug with several(4 or 5). how can I find the correct 2 wires for up and down? test light each wire when turning radio off and on, then connect the wires and leave others? 87 420sel

OK Black is the ground, you figured that out - Red wire to Pin #2 White to Pin #4

I just bought some pins and connected to the new antenna wires and inserterd them, then wrapped with electrical tape. I did not have the OEM antenna on the car so nothing to salvage the connector from.
