speaker question for a 140?

I have a 92 s600 and I can hear kind of a crackling type of noise from the drivers side dash speaker. Im not sure if its interferance? Or if its a bad speaker.

Can anyone tell me if theres a way to check either one of those guesses?

And also how much would that speaker cost? ANd total for speaker and installing it? Thanks.

The speakers on the outboard side on the dash have nothing to do with the radio they are intended for the Cell Tel portion, you probably have portions of the old OKI system still installed. The Transmitter is located bedind the drivers side fender liner in the trunk and is a little plug with two pins in a "t" configuration which goes to a box I think.
I removed everything, have a nice bin on the dash and a roomy console!
By the way if you have the CD option it has a propensity to keep running and drain the battery!

What would you suggest? Should I look for a deal around christmas time for 5 sets of speakers? ( theres 10 speakers maybe 11 in the car) should I buy 5 sets of speakers and replace all the speakers in the car?

How much would it cost for a place ( other then the dealership or dealership) to charge for labor?

Any advice on what to do or what you guys have done would be great.

???

Read my reply, the dash speakers have nothing to do with anything but Cell Tel. If the other channels are acting up Bose, second tuner, speakers rarely. I took the door apart thinking it was speakers (wrong) it was Bose

It's weird cuz the guy that I bought the car from said that he believes the front, drivers side dash speaker is blown or something wrong with it. You can hear it crackling at times and going off and comming back on. Thats one of the problems, but the other thing (not really a problem) but the system is just not loud enough for me. I mean most stock systems arent that great but I have heard a good amount of stock systems that were pretty good.

Does anyone by any chance know or have a link that will give me all sizes of the speakers located in each spot? I think theres either 10 or 11 speakers right? Does anyone know like if there all 4 x 6 or 6 x9? IM sure there different sizes but maybe someone can tell me what sizes they are and I can start looking around to replace the speakers?

Theres no problem with the speakers (except that one) its just that its not that great of sound to me and not loud enough.

The speakers are in ported enclosures in all the doors, the dash speakers have nothing to do with audio, it is cellular only. Unless you want pavement shattering sound, with a proper operating system you can get ample thump!
The wiring is integrated into looms, are you shure you want to open all those doors and take out the electric rear seat which the 600 has to get to the speakers on the rear deck.

I would like to do the cheapiest, EASIEST way to do this. if that means fixing the bose amp I guess I can do that and pray that solves the problem. Do you know where I could take the car to get the amp fixed and how much roughly it will run?

Typically, $400 or so, there is nothing cheap on these cars. Becker did change their web page and do not list their local dealers any more. I would not let anyone work on the amp, make shure they are qualified, I found a local dealer that did MBs work with the parts guys help!

Now I hear the stereo much less then I did before when I turn the button to only hear the front speakers i can barely hear it. Over the past week the speakers got worse ( or whatever got worse) does this make it sound more like the amp or what?

Did you take it to get diagnosed?

Did you get the amp fixed?

Did you even get a price for it?

There seems to be a lot of things you can research on your own.

We don't know what's wrong with the car until you get it looked at, and you're asking us to tell you what's broken without seeing the car, or at least the benefit of going over a professional opinion.

I also don't understand why you are obsessing over the sound system, when you just bought a very expensive to own car with an unknown service history.

You should be spending $400 on the maintenance of the car instead of the sound system.

You need to:

1. change the oil and filter (if you haven't done it yourself yet).
2. change the brake fluid
3. change the radiator fluid
4. change the transmssion fluid and filter
5. replace the plugs and have the cap and rotors inspected.
6. Have the brakes and flex discs inspected.

Hey Im not trying to be a jerk, but I thought if i gave you guys specifics of what the stereo is doing (since It just recently went out completely in the front ) you guys would be able to narrow the problem down.

ANd Im not sure if your confusing me with someone else but I have the original manual WITH the first owners of this car and there hitory, as well as over 50 pages of service history and reciepts from the last owner so Im assuming your mixing me up with someone else??

And to the to the maintanance you asked about.

1. change the oil and filter (if you haven't done it yourself yet).
( I have scheduled a oil change for tuesday)

2. change the brake fluid
(this will be done at the same time)

3. change the radiator fluid
(the radiator was just changed and the guy bought a bran new radiator less then 10,000 miles ago I have the service records so a flush is not needed)

4. change the transmssion fluid and filter
(Im probably going to get this done when I get the oil changed as well)

5. replace the plugs and have the cap and rotors inspected.
(this was done less then 15,000 miles ago with service records)

6. Have the brakes and flex discs inspected.
(will be done when the oil change is done Im taking it to the dealer)

I really just want to know if there is signs of the amp, first it was poping and cracking, now the whole front speakers dont work only the back, and even then the back really fades down low at times.

Good, but remember like I posted in a previous thread of yours, radiator fluid is to be changed at time intervals (every 3 years), not mileage intervals. It doesn't matter if it was 10,000 miles ago. How long ago was it?

The only other item that is changed at time intervals is brake fluid - every 2 years.
