Radio Code Entry Procedure?
I have a transplant from a 93 190E, MODEL CM2191 PART # 002 820 94 86 SERIAL: AL2191B0121861. I called MB and the tech said my code was 41523. There are only 4 spaces for characters on the display with an asterick button beneath the display.
I entered 4 - 1 - 5 - 2 - 3 and pressed * It beeped and said CODE. Note that the 4 disappeared because it is limited to display 4 numbers. So I entered 4 - 1 - 5 - 2 and pressed * It beeped and said CODE. He said that maybe I didnt press the 4 the first time, try again. So I did and it beeped and said HOLD. I am currently leaving the radio powered up to try again. I had him triple check the code and we went through it numerous times and always came up with the same number : 41523. Next I will try 1 - 5 - 2 - 3 *. I have to wait. ANy help is appreciated. What am I doing wrong? PRevost Edit/Delete Message Last edited by prevost3000; 04-21-2006 at 12:40 PM. |

I got the CODE!
Hey all.
As I said before MB gave me a 5 digit code and I went to the dealership and they swear by it. On my way home I thought of an idea. So I called the salvage yard I got the radio from and asked them for the VIN of the car. I called MB back with the vin and they gave me 5 - 5 - 3 - 1. The guy stayed on the line while I punched the #'s and then the asterick button. SUCCESS!!! It comes alive. So the MB guy realized there can be a numeric discrepancy between the radio # and the VIN #. Whats interesting is there are very few #'s similar to the first code. So it is altogether a different code for a 94 and newer type radio. So call MB with the radio # and the VIN # if you can get both of them. Lesson Learned. Prevost |
