83 300D Radio Install Help

i replaced the radio the other day. went from a mid 80s vintage pioneer to a sony cd/mp3 pplayer. prior to install, pioneer stopped working. i recently r&r the front tranny pump. it was after i completed this that i noticed the radio (pioneer) not working. So i scored the sony.
installed it last weekend. seemed to work fine all day sunday and monday however, tuesday did not work. blown fuse. replaced, blew fuse again.
removed cigar lighter and glove box lamp. blew fuse. unplugged radio and antenna. fuse ok. plugged radio in. would not come on. checked V, ok. began to plug antenna in, noticed a spark to body of radio. fuse blew.
any idea what is happening? antenna not grounded properly? short in antenna?
side note perhaps related? the nss came off while adjusting bowden cable monday evening.
Also, noted Fuse 2 has blown.
any help greatly appreciated...

Start tracing wires. Take your voltmeter to your antenna lead and make sure there is no voltage present. Maybe your automatic antenna is feeding voltage through the lead ane frying your radio.

Sounds like a stray wire. I'd recheck the connections an make sure no wires uncovered. Including those comming out of the unit (some have signal wires for external amps ect.)

i dont think they have install kits for these old cars. Youll have to do the wiring yourself. Had to do it when i put in a kenwood tape deck with 6 cd changer in the SD. Wasnt all that hard.

Also recently just done my 300D with a lanzar mp3 CD deck and 12' subs in bandpass box, Boss amp. Sold my MTX amp and subs and miss them, they hit hard! but my new setup hits harder
