auto antenna has stopped functioning, checked connection at radio, checked fuse in main fuse box,is there a way of checking to see if it is the unit itself without a simple replacement?

I bought a replacement on Ebay for about $50. There may be more for sale there if you need one.

Could also be the antenna motor. Mine failed. They're not too cheap but they are a really quick and easy replacement.

...what model...

You can easy check (switched) power at the antenna connector in the trunk. Take a test light to determine whether the antenna is powered properly or not.

Motor Or Mast?

Turn on the ignition. Wait a second until the pumps and stuff shut off. Turn on the radio with the volume down. Do you hear the antenna motor? To be sure, have someone turn on the radio while you listen for the motor with the trunk lid open.

If you hear the motor, but you have no mast action, you only have to replace the mast. The up & down is controlled by a plastic cable with little gear teeth on it.
