Exclamation Installation of Audio Equipment

Hi I am new here and in need of help i used the search function to find as much information as i can but the bottom line is no one really answers the quetions percisely. I have a friend that has a 1992 190 E, this is 100% confirmed, I have not seen the car yet so i dont know what is in it as far as factory sound goes i will be taking a look at it soon. He wants new speakers front and rear.
1) i saw that if there are dash speakers they are 4's and need little modifying. Looks like the grill just pops off, correct?
2)The doors are what size, i thought i saw 4 is this correct? anyone fit 5 1/4 in there with little modifying? im looking to do that.
3)Also rear deck is 5 1/4? is this confirmed, i was looking to put 6x9's maybe
5x7s has anyone done this mod. Looks like to me it needs a bit of modiying, Has anyone done this?
4)I saw that new speaker wire needs to be fun to bypass the stock fader.
5)And now the stock HU. If the car has a factory anti theft, where you have to enter codes into the hu, how do you bypass that to put an aftermarket hu in? What needs to be done with the anti theft, does it need to be disabled? What will no longer work if one would replace the factory hu? Is there a code you need to enter before doining this? What kind of antenna adapter is needed if one is needed? Where would one get the antenna adapter, wireing harness, dash kit, if one is avaliable?
6) What are the confirmed wire colors for this vehicle? If its pending on what stock system there is give both and for what stock system. The year and model are 100% confirmed.

I have not delt with a M.B. before so i dont know what im getting into, I wanted to make sure i do some research on the car to make sure i do the best job possiable. Would like the most percise answers possiable, i dont care what type of speakers you put in, we are already set on the brand, I just want good direct solid answers for my questions, for the best possiable installation. Thank You for taking your time and reading this thread, also having this website. I hope to get knowledgeable answers soon so i can perform this installation.

1. The dash speaker covers dont just "pop" off. Theyre held in place with 4 screws. Remove them and then they "pop" off.

2. Yes you can fit 5 1/4" speakers in the door with some modifying.

3. 5 1/4" for the rear is right. You can fit 6x9's in the rear, but you will most likely need to cut out the metal so the magnets clear. Unless you look into some ultra slim 6x9's. You will also need to cut the cardboard rear deck which isnt hard at all.

4. You dont need to bypass the fader switch. But if a new system is going in, it would a good idea that you do. If there is no amplifier envolved, new wires can be easily ran from the head unit to the speakers.

5. You dont need to enter any codes at all when replacing the head unit with an aftermarket one. You also dont need a wiring harness either (only the one that is provided with the aftermarket head unit). You just need to cut off the connectors and mix 'n match the wires up. If you dont want to go that route, Crutchfield supplies wiring harnesses. The stock antenna plugs into most aftermarket head units. If it doesnt, Crutchfield probably has antenna adapters or you can try installer.com. You also dont need any type of dash kit since you should be choosing a DIN unit and it slides right in.

6. If these colors dont match up, use a multimeter to test the wires (which you should be using anyways).

I also forget to mention that you will have a factory amplifier to deal with. Its located on the right side of the trunk.

well what they want is a cd player and 4 speaker setup. Im looking at 4in infinitys for the front and try to find a way to fit something bigger in the back as far as maybe 6x9's or maybe 6 and 1/2's how about the Infinity Reference 6-1/2's? fit with little trouble? i will be bypassing the stock fader so i will be running new speaker wire to the back and new speaker wire in the front. They are looking to spend about $400 for the deck and speakers. If this car had a stock amp than it is horrid cuz i put the volume all the way up and it does not get loud at all. So i will probably be cutting that out as well. So its best to hard wire the deck in and just cut out the amp and stock fader? Also i will be taking out the door speakers since they are muffled out by the seat anyways or at least to me. This install seems to be getting worse by the minute

Separate amps common in MB's?

Is it common for MBs to have separate amps and head units? How would you go about determining how powerful an amp to use in a car system? If I wanted to drive four speakers and a sub, for instance, how would I determine the power required?

I don't want to rattle the windows of the houses I'm driving past. I'd just like to get a nice full range of music. I'm assuming there's a formula somewhere for this.
