FM Transmitters (wireless) don't work well but are idiot proof. FM Modulators are direct connections in through the antenna cable and work well.

So, the FM modulator plugs into the FM antenna as opposed to plugging directly into the reciever? Is that correct? Is that easier or more commonly done? Or is it done only in cases where the reciever does not have an aux input?

MP3 adapter from frontier net dot net

I recently installed a Bipes automotive mp3 adapter and it works a lot better than FM modulators (I used to use the monster cable modulator). The sound is phenomenal. I installed it on my '97 E420 stock radio with extreme ease.

The antenna cable plugs into the modulator, then the modulator plugs into the radios antenna socket. Completely inline. It took me about an hour to do a clean install in my W123.

I gotcha

I have since read some stuff about this and think I have a better understanding of the issues.
The IceLink connection apparently provides you with more of the available features by integrating the I Pod or Satellite radio into the car's sound system. This allows you to use the steering-wheel-mounted controls, etc with your add-on product.

I will be happy just to have the basics.
