Hi everyone:

i just replaced the antanna mast on my 90 560sel. bought the part from fastlane. funny thing is, after install, the antanna won't retract. it just stayed at the fully extended state.

any ideas?

thanks!

Normally you pull out the pin after you put on the radio and push in the new pin while shutting off the radio. If you do it like that, the motor will get a hold of the pin-cable again and retract the pin.

You took out the amps. in the back...is your antenna still powered up?

greetingz,

antanna woes

Hi Mbenz:

thanks for replying!

well, i only took out one amp, since it was already dead. the antanna still powers up, as well as the radio. what's strange is that once i inserted the tooth, the motor only went one way.. up. when i shut off the radio, or hit the Off switch on the antanna button, nothing responded. i tried manually rotating the belt inside the antanna unit the retract the new antanna, and then hook up the connectors. when i turn on the radio again, the mast extends well, but refuses to retract when i shut off. sigh.. hopefully, i won't have to replace the whole module as well. it didn't use to have this problem with the original antanna mast. maybe i'll put back the original and see what happens.

regards,

theo

hmm.. i am wondering if i had blown a fuse that makes the antanna go down.. or if i've blown the part of the circuit in that antanna box that leads the antanna to go down.

let me get my ak47 and blow that !@#%#% antanna to pieces now!

sigh!!
