The Grand Prix radio in my '83 300D turbo needs to be turned on every time I start the car unless I just turned off the car. Is this normal or is there a keepalive battery in the radio that needs replacement? It would be preferable for it to turn on automatically when I start the car. I purchased the car used and have no manual.

Check permanent power and ignition switched power in the connector at the back of the radio...
It is not normal for the radio not to turn on after the ignition key is switched on again.

greetingz,
